“There’s this whole opening and then I come in and kind of shoo the girls to the side because it’s my turn to dance,” @tessreichlen said of the unusual placement of her solo in #GeorgeBalanchine’s ravishing “Tschaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 2,” part of @nycballet’s opening week at @lincolncenter, starting January 22. “It feels powerful,” she said, or “like you’re arrived late to the party, but it’s your party.” It’s also something of a pas de deux between the lead ballerina and the pianist here, Susan Walters. “She finishes her turns, and I finish the scale,” Susan said. “But it’s not right on the dot of being together.” As Tess told the @nytimes writer @giadk: “We know where she needs to take a break or where I want to take a break.
